Welcome to our new web site and our new showground which is just across the road from where the show was held last year. The fields are flat and set in beautiful countryside and has been a popular area for our many visitors.
One of our attractions this year is ‘Tom Longton’s working sheepdogs’ which will include demonstrations and audience participation!
The Food Hall will once again be in attendance with cookery demonstrations and all the wonderful products that the area has to offer.
Cone driving is also a new attraction where horses and their vehicles will be racing around cones against the clock. Four shows are taking part in this new venture, Ulverston, Kirkby Lonsdale, Cartmel and culminating in a Grand Final at the Westmorland Show in September.
Barrow Vintage Motorcycle Club will be attending with their display of vintage motorcycles – a chance to reminisce of times gone by. We are hoping to include some vintage tractors as well this year.
Alice’s Dog Show which was very successful last year will again be taking place and is very kindly orgainised by Simon and Cathy Broomfield of Verstone Kennels, Mascalles Ulverston. Owners and dogs enter on the day only at the dog area.
Calf handling has been moved to the main ring this year as many of our visitors have requested. Come and see the farmers of the future!
We will of course have the usual cattle , sheep, horse, rabbit and poultry classes as well as horiticultural and children’s classes.
Horse entrants please note that some of the classes have been changed. This year we are affiliated to Equifest, Northern Counties Pony Association, Heavy Horse Society and The Showing Register some of which will enable riders to qualify for Regional Finals.
Trade and craft stands will be in attendance as will the popular rural craft marquee.
The ever popular rural craft marquee will be there as will other trade and craft stands.
